Marbella is located in Spain’s prestigious ‘Golden Triangle’ and it’s a dream location for many British expats.
Unfortunately, property in the popular Costa del Sol seaside town comes with a hefty price tag.
If you’re looking to build your own dream luxury house, it’ll probably cost at least five million euros (£4.2million), according to a team of property experts.
The team at Pure Living Properties have produced a handy guide on building a dream house in Marbella.
First, expats will need to select a plot and prices will vary based on the size, location and land availability.
In La Zagaleta, an exclusive development with available lots, buyers could be looking at paying 10 million euros (£8.5million). Prices in Las Lomas de Rio Verde, close to the sea and town centre, can be as high as 20 million euros (£17.1million) for a sea view lot.
Buyers will also need to be aware that prices don’t often include the land registration, notary fees and Property Transfer Tax fees.
If those prices haven’t put you off, the next task will be finding an architect. The architect will create the project from scratch and will generally cost around six to seven percent of the total price.
Once the design is selected, buyers will need to hire a construction company which can cost around two million euros (£1.7million) for a standard-sized villa.
Taxes and licences required for a new property include an environmental impact study, a first occupation licence and activity licence.
After the exterior is sorted, buyers can choose an interior design to create the inside of their property.
