The refreshed 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 will arrive in dealerships this fall and will feature a Tesla charging port standard in North America and a larger battery pack for greater range.
All Ioniq 5 models have received updates both inside and out, and a more off-road-focused XRT variant has joined the lineup.
Hyundai Motor North America CEO Jose Munoz said in a statement that the Ioniq 5 updates “will give customers more of what they want.”
The new Ioniq 5, the first electric vehicle produced at Hyundai's Metaplant in Bryan County, Georgia, will also be eligible for a $3,750 federal tax credit.
It's the first EV from Hyundai Motor Group that can qualify for at least part of the $7,500 federal incentive under new, stricter rules introduced this year. All Ioniq 5s can qualify for the full $7,500 when leased.
The 2025 Ioniq 5 is also the first Hyundai model to be built with the updated charging standard, gaining access to more than 17,000 charging stations on the Tesla Supercharger network. Hyundai said all new or updated models will come with the new port starting in the fourth quarter.
Battery capacity and range have been improved across most models. Standard Range models now feature a 63 kWh battery, up from 58 kWh in the previous model. Battery capacity in Long Range models has been increased from 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh.
The most fuel-efficient rear-wheel-drive SE, SEL and Limited models can now travel more than 310 miles on a full charge, up from 303 miles for the previous model.
All-wheel-drive SE, SEL, Limited, and XRT trims will now offer a range of 250 to 280 miles, depending on wheel and tire size. For some configurations, that's up from the 260-mile range offered in the previous version.
The base rear-wheel drive Standard Range model's range increases from 220 miles to more than 240 miles.
On the outside, the 2025 Ioniq 5 features restyled front and rear bumpers, a new rear spoiler, and more aerodynamic wheels. Roof rails are available, and three new colors have been added to the palette: Atlas White Matte, Ecotronic Gray Matte, and Celadon Gray Matte.
Interior changes include redesigned HVAC controls and steering wheel, as well as a new center console. The heated front seat controls are now physical buttons. SEL and above now feature heated rear seats.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard, as is a 12.3-inch screen that includes a driver information display and a central infotainment touchscreen. There are five USB-C ports throughout the cabin. All models now feature over-the-air software updates.
Several new safety and convenience features have been added, including Steering Wheel Motion Detection, Lane Follow Assist 2, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 and Park Collision Mitigation Assist (rear, front and side).
Hyundai said the new 2025 Ioniq 5 XRT is positioned just below the performance Ioniq 5 N and is aimed at consumers who like to “play in the dirt.”
The Ioniq 5 XRT also has nearly 1 inch of suspension lift and 7 inches of ground clearance.
It offers a more aggressive front and rear design with exclusive bumpers, side skirts and distinctive black 18-inch wheels. Inside, it has XRT badging and a black headliner.
Hyundai has not announced pricing for the 2025 Ioniq 5. The 2024 Ioniq 5 starts at $43,195 and goes up to $60,795. Both prices include shipping.
