2025 Volkswagen Tayron: Tiguan Allspace replacement spied testing

More spy photos of the 2025 Volkswagen Tayron have emerged, with the global successor to the Tiguan Allspace seven-seater taking to the Nürburgring in deceptive camouflage.

According to our European spy photographer, this is the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, though a closer look at the pictures shows almost all of the three-row SUV’s exterior design elements are vinyl decals, placed on the new body underneath.

Though the stickers make it look like the outgoing model, you can see the design language of the new-generation Tiguan underneath, which includes a full-width LED light bar, a wide and tall front grille plus wraparound tail lights at the back.

The Tayron is expected to be more than just a stretched Tiguan, instead becoming wider and taller than its popular sibling, and therefore closer in size to the Skoda Kodiaq.

Volkswagen Australia has previously said the Tayron will make its local debut in late 2025, following the arrival of the new Tiguan in the first quarter of next year (January to March inclusive).

Local specifications are far from being locked in, though Volkswagen’s European division has said a choice of turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines with 48V mild-hybrid assistance will be on offer globally – mirroring the Tiguan.

A choice of front- or all-wheel drive will be offered – all utilising a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission – in addition to two plug-in hybrid variants globally, however these may not reach Australian showrooms.
