The same goes for the 2025 Volvo XC90, which looks more like its predecessor. EX90 electric brother, namely the design of the “Thor's Hammer” style headlights, air intakes and pleated hood.
There are some significant differences between the two, however: the XC90 retains the vertical taillights (albeit with new graphics) rather than the electric model's C-clip-style units.
A number of chrome elements, as well as flush door handles, also distinguish the XC90 from the EX90.
The XC90's cabin is perhaps the biggest beneficiary of the update, with the 9-inch infotainment touchscreen replaced by an 11.2-inch display with a 21 percent higher pixel density, giving it higher resolution.
It still runs Android Automotive with Google built in.
The entire dashboard has been redesigned and features sharper air vents, while the steering wheel and digital instrument cluster remain largely unchanged.
Compared to the existing XC90, there's additional storage space in the centre console, an extra cupholder and a relocated wireless phone charger, as well as a redesigned gear selector.
To reduce road noise, additional sound insulation has been installed.
Apparently, there have been no changes under the hood: the XC90's engine lineup remains the same.
In Australia, the range consists of the B5, B6 and T8, all of which carry over into the updated model.
