A German electric car company goes bankrupt and fires all its employees

After the bankruptcy of American electric car manufacturer Fisker, its German subsidiary ended. Bankruptcy administrator Michael Jaffé announced on Monday that “there is no longer an operational base for German Fisker GmbH, which was exclusively entrusted with sales duties.” About 40 employees have been laid off.

The German subsidiary's sales activity “was largely halted due to production halts at the US parent company prior to the bankruptcy filing,” the statement said. Now “there is no possibility of continuing”. Additionally, “no significant profits” are expected from exploiting the “relatively small” business assets.

The American company filed for bankruptcy in June. In July, Germany's Fisker GmbH also filed for bankruptcy. According to preliminary estimates, their liabilities amount to more than 41 million euros, Jaffé said on Monday. At the start of the bankruptcy process in July, “no liquid assets” were available.
