The Office of the Attorney General of the State of Guerrero confirmed the crime and announced the start of an investigation into the cause of the crime, specifying that it took place on a federal highway near the city of San Pedro las Playas.
“Officers of the Ministerial Investigation Police (PIM) and the Expert Services went to the scene and carried out the associated investigative actions. The FGE Guerrero reaffirms its commitment to search for the people of Guerrero access to justice and the fight against impunity», reads a statement published on his profile on the social network Facebook.
Villalba, a retired Navy captain, was a candidate for the Mexico Avanza celebration. In the same city, a year ago Jesús González Ríos, candidate for the Green Party, was also murdered and Candy Espinoza Ríos, candidate for Morena, fled the municipality with her family due to threats, reports the news portal Animal Político.
