AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D is faster than Ryzen 9000 processors in games, but slower than 7800X3D, consumes about 50 W in games

The AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D processor has been tested and shown to deliver better gaming performance than Ryzen 9000 chips.

The AMD Ryzen 7600X3D 3D V-Cache processor is faster than the Ryzen 9600X and 9700X, and is also much more power efficient.

AMD's newly released Ryzen 5 7600X3D Processor has been tested. The processor is exclusive to a few retailers, namely Microcenter US and Mindfactory in Germany, which is AMD's usual strategy for some of its processors, such as the Ryzen 5600X3D and Ryzen 7500F. Ryzen 7600X3D has been tested PC Gaming HardwareGerman hardware site that has revealed the true potential of this mid-range X3D processor.

The site compared the CPU to a variety of AMD and Intel processors in both gaming and productivity applications. While the productivity performance isn’t impressive, the gaming performance shows that it’s on par with AMD’s high-end X3D and non-X3D processors. The Ryzen 7600X3D is roughly on the same page as the Intel Core i5 13600K/14600K, and faster than the recently released Ryzen 9600X and 9700X.

It has been tested on 9 different games including the latest titles like Baldurs Gate 3 And F1 2024 as well as a variety of graphically rich games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Ghost of Tsushima, Starfield etc. In some games, the 7600X3D is mostly in the top 5, but on average, the CPU is in 9th place, just behind the 13600K and 14600K. Compared to AMD CPUs, only the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Ryzen 9 7950X3D were able to outperform the CPU, which is significantly superior in terms of features and price.

As for other processors, the Ryzen 7600XD shows impressive results, beating more expensive ones Ryzen 9 7900X3D processor by 4% and based on Zen 3 5800X3D by 7%. It's surprising that mid-range Zen 5 processors couldn't beat the 7600X3D. The Ryzen 9600X remains a staggering 14% slower than the 7600X3D, but only costs $20 less. The Ryzen 9700X loses with a difference of 6% and costs $60 more.

Due to the lower availability of the processor, the 7600X3D will not be available for purchase in most parts of the world. However, the $300 price tag for the 7600X3D is not the best when it comes to price to performance, as processors like the Core i5 14600K and 13600K provide better gaming performance and are also significantly ahead in performance. Moreover, the 7600X3D is limited in overclocking.

However, it demonstrates amazing energy efficiency with just 48-55 W power consumption in gaming and productivity workloads, and delivers the highest FPS per watt in the industry. The Ryzen 7600X3D looks like a good 6-core/12-thread processor for gaming workloads, but it can't compete with other mid-range processors in performance due to its significantly reduced clock speed.
