According to the prosecutor's office, the number of deaths in the holiday resort of Acapulco and in other parts of Guerrero state has risen to 15, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador wrote on Sunday on the online service X. According to authorities, one person also died in the neighboring state of Oaxaca.
Acapulco's beach promenade was destroyed by Hurricane Otis a year ago. Now holiday resorts on the Pacific coast are once again flooded. Thousands of people had to take refuge in emergency shelters.
