On Tuesday, May 7, electricity prices for consumers at the regulated rate will drop significantly, with several hours at zero euros.

More than two million consumers linked to this tariff will benefit from a significant price drop of 12.07 percent compared to today. Experts consistently recommend timing the use of heavy appliances, such as washing machines and ovens, during these cheaper hours as a smart way to reduce monthly bills.

Optimal and peak price times

The market operator Iberico de Energia (OMIE) has announced the fluctuating figures electricity rates for Tuesday. The peak rate will reach €99.87/MWh between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., making it the most expensive hour.

Conversely, the rate will drop to €0 from 12pm to 7pm, offering free electricity for seven consecutive hours – a perfect period to power energy-hungry home appliances.
