Canada's prime minister survives second no-confidence vote in two weeks

Tuesday's 207 to 121 vote was largely a repeat of the Conservative Party's failed attempt last week to secure an early election. Two small factions in Parliament sided with Trudeau's minority government and his Liberal Party.

Trudeau has been Prime Minister of the North American country since 2015. But his popularity has declined drastically. In recent months, Trudeau has suffered a series of setbacks, including defeats in by-elections in two Liberal Party strongholds. In opinion polls, the leader of the Conservative Party, Pierre Poilievre, is ahead by 20 percentage points.
