Mexico City.- President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum has thundered about the lack of coordination between the United States and Mexico in capturing capo Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada.
Interviewed outside the transition house, Morenista stressed that “the lack of coordination or collaboration in a case like this is unacceptable.”
He questioned that, almost two months after the arrest of “El Mayo”, US authorities have not even explained “the release of one boss to arrest another.” -About the President's (AMLO) statement blaming the United States for the violence in Sinaloa, what do you think?
“I believe that the important thing in relations with America, with its institutions, is that there is coordination, in this case everything shows that there is no coordination,” he criticized.
“Otherwise, there are actions that are based even on issues that have not been fully clarified, such as the release of one boss to arrest another boss.” “So, I believe that what is unacceptable is the lack of coordination and collaboration,” Sheinbaum added. President López Obrador accused the US government of being partly responsible for the violence in Sinaloa because it negotiated the arrest of Joaquín Guzmán López, the son of “El Chapo”, and “El Mayo” in its territory, without informing Mexico. Earlier in the day, the president insisted that the Joe Biden administration owed Mexico an explanation of the scope of its agreement with the drug trafficker. “Of course we are interested in building peace, that there is no violence, we are also interested in ensuring that fentanyl does not reach the United States,” Sheinbaum added. “But the United States must do the same in its country. We do the same in our country and coordinate, collaborate, what should not happen is that there is no collaboration.” Elsewhere, the incoming president said he would be “very excited” to have U.S. First Lady Jill Biden attend the inauguration on Oct. 1. “She’s coming and I’m very grateful that she’s coming, and I would love to have her,” Sheinbaum said.
