Mexico City.- Comedian Sofía Niño de Rivera announced that cybercriminals stole her bank accounts and investment funds through fraud.
“I made this video because I don't want that to happen to anyone else,” she explained on her social media account, recounting her situation.
According to Niño de Rivera, an alleged executive from his bank told him over the phone that a fraudster was trying to make a claim for his information. He added that the instructions to protect his money and initiate an investigation protocol were to delete the application on his phone and go to an ATM, where he had to issue certain commands.
The caller never asked for any personal information, although by following his instructions she ended up disabling the app's facial recognition security.
While it is not known how much Niño de Rivera stole, he explained the criminals forwarded the money to 11 different accounts.
