While appearing on the show “Assassination Game”, Batista attracted attention with his dramatic new appearance as he had lost a significant amount of weight.
Although he's mostly played comedic characters in some pretty lighthearted films, Dave Bautista is taking his transition to acting seriously. The muscle-bound star, who is one of the few truly successful wrestlers turned actors, is stepping out in a new action comedy with J.J. Killer's Gamein which he takes on a mob of hitmen who want a price on his head. Although he remained buff for the film, fans may notice how much leaner and fitter the former WWE and Guardians of the Galaxy the star searches during the press tour and before the premiere.
In accordance with DiversityBautista is strategically cutting back to play more diverse roles in his future career. He explains, “I started cutting it down because I was getting too big for the role. Uncomfortably big. For Knock on the hut “I got really big. I was like 315 pounds… I gained weight really fast, and I gained an uncomfortable amount, and it took me forever to lose it.” He continues: “The more weight I lost, the better I looked on camera and the better I looked next to the other actors. I'm still a big guy. At 6'4″ and 240 pounds, next to the typical actor, I look like a gorilla, and it's distracting. I'll probably lose a few more pounds. I'm just killing myself to be this fit. I work out hard.”
Bautista recently revealed that he is never offered atypical roles, such as romantic leads, and after he addressed that aspect of his career, the universe responded in kind. At the Los Angeles premiere Killer's GameHe was surprised when he said his comments “It caused a lot of controversy, but after that I started getting a lot of phone calls.” He continues: “I said that and immediately I started getting calls. So we have a couple that we're developing that are actually really funny.” Finally he said that he “he gets in there like a real romantic comedy. Not like an action movie, but like a real romantic comedy.”
