Edgar Berlanga continued his attacks on Oscar De La Hoya with a foul-mouthed tirade on Wednesday.
Berlanga got into an argument with De La Hoya ahead of his fight with Canelo on Saturday calling the upcoming fight a “sleep fest”.
De La Hoya, who has been embroiled in a bitter feud with Canelo since their violent schismsaid on Monday: “I am the king of pay-per-view and @Canelo vs. @EdgarBerlangaJr will not exceed 100,000 homes.
“Nobody is going to pay $90 for this dream. Just stating the facts, as always.”
A frustrated Berlanga responded: “How can a scumbag like Oscar hate me and this event?
“You're the one a lot of fighters looked up to. You're a f**** sh*****@OscarDeLaHoya.”
And before the end of the pre-fight press conference on Wednesday, Berlanga continued his tirade against the American boxing promoter.
“I want to say something too. Fuck Oscar De La Hoya,” Berlanga said. “That bastard, he keeps talking, he keeps talking.
“We'll hit him when we see him. You need to stop… he's trying to ruin the event.”
The IBF initially ordered Canelo to fight mandatory challenger William Scull next.
However, the former pound-for-pound boxing king chose to fight Berlanga because it was “more financially advantageous.”
As a result, Canelo was stripped of his IBF belt and thus his undisputed status in the 168-pound weight class.
A fight for the vacant IBF title was then scheduled between Scull and Vladimir Shishkin.
If Canelo decides not to face the winner of this fight, Terence Crawford is expected to be his next opponent.
The fight is expected to be among the top picks of Saudi Arabian boxing chief Turki Alalshih, who recently said Crawford not interested in other fights.
Canelo is open to facing Crawford but insists it will be an 'easy fight' for him.
“You know, what we saw in the last fight with him, [vs Israil Madrimov]”I think that's why there are weight classes,” he said. Manuk Akopyan.
“I think it's an easy fight for me. He moves a lot, he's a good fighter and a good boxer, but I'll handle him.”
