We welcomed the entry-level Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL flagships at the end of August, and now the spotlight turns to Google's next-generation compact Pro and foldable smartphone.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold switches to a more traditional 20:9 aspect ratio for the outer display, up from the original Pixel Fold's 17.4:9. Additionally, the inner display gets a significant bump up to a new 8-inch diagonal. There's also a more efficient Tensor G4 chipset, but that's pretty much it for this year's major upgrades.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro hasn't been unveiled yet, but it's set to launch on September 16 (Monday). While it's not the smallest flagship (both the Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15 Pro are smaller), it does feature a 48-megapixel 113mm periscope and 48-megapixel ultra-wide cameras, as well as a 42-megapixel ultra-wide selfie camera.

Extra £200 credit on exchange
Note that the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold come with a free storage upgrade, and Amazon also offers additional credit as a bonus when you trade in your old device.
The same goes for the Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro XL, with both smartphones getting a free storage upgrade and a trade-in bonus.
The Google Pixel Watch 3 starts shipping on Tuesday. This generation comes in a 41mm size like the first two, but you can now opt for a larger 45mm model — in addition to the screen size increasing from 1.2″ to 1.4″, you also get a larger 420mAh battery (up from 307mAh).
This year, Samsung introduced a new category of watches — the Galaxy Watch Ultra. It is water-resistant up to 100m and has a built-in ECG sensor. The 1.5-inch display can go up to 3000 nits, and the 590mAh battery provides more endurance.
There’s no Classic model this year, but there is a Galaxy Watch7. It comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes (1.3-inch and 1.5-inch displays, respectively) and also features an ECG sensor. Both this model and the Ultra can also monitor blood pressure and skin temperature. While not as rugged, they’re still rated for water resistance up to 50m, which should be enough for most.
If you want something cheap, the Galaxy Watch FE has many of the same features — it’s rated for 50m, has ECG and blood pressure, and even has a sapphire crystal. Note that Prime Student members can get an extra discount on the watch.
Finally, the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are worth a mention — the new Tensor A1 chipset promises to double the noise cancellation of the original Pros. However, they won't be available until later this month, so we'll have to come back to them.
