The Republican candidate, Donald Trump, has managed to conclude this first debate without giving clear answers to the journalists' direct and specific questions, nor explaining a single proposal about what he would do if he wins the next election. Your strategy continually attack capacity and the results of Joe Biden, which they labeled a disaster compared to his mandate, as well as a staging with a clearly more dynamic body energy, have shown that Trump at least had a better strategy and perhaps better preparation than his opponent. Trump has come to conquer a long and repetitive election spot. Certainly effective.
trump He also won the non-verbal debate. And the verbal doesn't seem to have won Joe Bidenand it has also failed to demonstrate the supposed dangers of Trump’s return. Biden’s moments of slippage, if not lack of clarity—even confusion—have helped fuel the big initial question of this debate: Can Biden withstand Trump’s onslaught and aggressiveness? He said he showed up to stop it. But tonight he hasn’t shown it, even as he’s gone from less to more. Paradoxically, Trump has had to wait so long for it, and Biden has seemed to stand the test of time better.
The moment in the debate where the age of both of them and their possible limitations to perform “the toughest job in the world” was brought up was comical and “almost” ridiculous. The debate about their cognitive abilities has ended in a golf challenge, to show who is the best physical disability. Both have painted an outdated, elitist picture of useless pensioners challenging each other to see who could hit better and harder with their stick. In a CBS and YouGov pollOnly 28% of the electorate views Biden as “strong,” compared to 66% who feel the same about Trump.
Joe Biden arrived at the debate having increased the toughness of his messages against Trump: his campaign $50 million invested in a place who describes his rival as a “crazy” person who will do anything for power, alongside Kamala Harris and other Democratic spokespeople who emphasize the president's ability to “fight.”
Biden has started doing this for the first time in months lead the voting intention in some studies. However, his advantage is small and not yet reflected in the nearby states that will determine the election and in the most recognized polling averages, such as that of Real clear politicsthey still trail him, albeit by only one point. The situation is an improvement over the first five months of the year, however, and reflects how Trump’s conviction in the only trial that will take place before the election may have put him among the most moderate voters.
Despite his weakening in the polls and the potential setback among moderate voters, Trump’s late May verdict further mobilized his base. His campaign has used that momentum to boost its financial revenue, an area in which it has been behind the Democratic Party all year.
Today's debate will have confirmed the biases and prejudices of each candidate's hardline voters. But it will have left the undecided bewildered and plunged into many doubts about the meaning of their vote. Trump's aggressiveness – although he seemed less aggressive and less dangerous today – may be his weakness. And Biden's weakness may be his strength in that he exhibits resistant traits that generate a bond of affection, even if it is condescending and lacking enthusiasm. Undecided voters sometimes lean toward the losers. Especially when the winners seem arrogant and want to humiliate or ridicule their opponents.
Biden has lost the ironic sense of humor that was his signature. We’ve only seen a few snippets of it, like when he called Trump a “crybaby.” But those flashes also illuminated the many foggy moments that accompanied him in the debate. Trump, by contrast, has scrutinized every argument he knows is damaging and sowing doubt among still-reluctant Democrats and the undecided.
The final balance is very poor: both have shown their limitations. The choice is fixed. Voters must choose the lesser of the two. And this lack of mobilizing energy can seriously harm the Democrats. A vote is a vote that is defeated. That is why Trump manages to win despite everything, because Biden cannot yet forcefully open the hope that there will be a fight.
