The Marbella City Council has reopened the Real de Zaragoza dune area to the public following the restoration and development works carried out which have focused on eliminating invasive and exotic species and creating a space for residents and visitors.
Mayor Ángeles Muñoz visited the site, accompanied by the Councilor of Environment and Beaches, Diego López, where she explained that “the invasive plants had a very negative effect on the natural environment and biodiversity”.
A raised walkway has been constructed and in addition to the environmental conservation of the area, it has also been given a modern look to suit the surroundings, making it a visitors area, with the installation of a pergola area, 16 benches and new waste bins. The cost of the work was €510,000, of which 80 percent was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
This project, Muñoz said, is another example of how City Hall “continues to renovate, transform and support the environmental sustainability of our environment.”
