New Delhi:
Donald Trump's highly anticipated interview with Elon Musk on Channel X was marred by serious technical problems before it even began today, forcing the billionaire entrepreneur to only conduct the interview for a small number of users as several others were unable to connect to the broadcast.
The interview could give Trump a chance to take center stage as his Democratic presidential rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, has erased his lead in polls and galvanized Democratic voters with a series of energetic rallies. The Trump campaign has dubbed it the “interview of the century.”
“This is an unscripted, unconstrained interview, so it should be very interesting!” Musk, 53, whose net worth is estimated at $235 billion, wrote in a preview of the interview on Sunday.
Trump's access to his @realDonaldTrump account was restored a month after Musk took over X, after the platform's previous owners banned him following a January 6, 2021, attack on Congress by his supporters. Trump frequently posts on his social media platform, Truth Social, which launched in February 2022.
On Monday, Trump, 78, posted on his X social media account for the first time in more than a year, sharing a campaign video in which he portrayed himself as a victim of persecution by forces seeking to “destroy” the United States.
Musk, one of Democrats' most vocal critics, endorsed Trump last month just minutes after the Republican narrowly survived an assassination attempt at a rally.
