Canadian musician Jacob Hoggard has pleaded not guilty to sexual assault in a northeastern Ontario court as his trial gets underway.
The former Hedley frontman, wearing a dark suit, stood to enter his not guilty plea on Monday.
Jury selection has begun for the trial taking place in Haileybury, a community in Temiskaming Shores, Ont.
Hoggard faces sexual assault charges for an incident that allegedly occurred on June 25, 2016, near Kirkland Lake.
He was selected late last year to be tried in the High Court by jury.
Arguments and evidence are expected to begin being presented at trial once jury selection is complete.
