The House of Commons is debating a motion of no confidence from the Conservative Party today, as the Conservatives try to bring down Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government.

It is the first test for the minority government since the NDP ended a supply and confidence deal with the Liberals earlier this month.

The Bloc Québécois and NDP have said they will not support the motion, which will be put to a vote on Wednesday.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has criticized NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh for his refusal to drop the Liberal Party.

All of that has virtually eliminated the possibility of a snap election this week.

The Conservatives have another chance to introduce a motion of no confidence on Thursday.
