The latest teaser poster of Huawei's tri-fold smartphone suggests that the unique smartphone will feature two opposing hinges that form a 'Z' shape.
The last time a tri-fold smartphone was photographed, the former Huawei executive was holding the device, which Three ultra-thin panels are presented with a massive rear camera bump. While these alleged leaked images gave us an idea of what form factor to expect from the upcoming phone, the teaser pretty much gives away those elusive details. As you can probably tell from the image below, which was first shown on Weibo, the tri-fold smartphone features three displays with two opposing hinges positioned between these panels, allowing the device to form a “Z” shape.
Huawei has been very secretive about this hardware, and the only information we have come from a wave of unconfirmed rumors. According to the latest update, the company was still working on reduce the cost of the prototypehinting that it may take some time before the triple foldable smartphone enters mass production. It is also possible that due to the unique and complex form factor of the smartphone, several more iterations will be required, so mass production may not begin until next year.
The announcement could serve as a detailed teaser or concept reveal, similar to what TECNO, another Chinese smartphone maker, did with its Phantom Ultimate 2a triple concept that shares more or less the same attributes as Huawei's upcoming offering.
