The center of powerful Category 4 Hurricane Helene made landfall this Thursday on the northwest coast of Florida, in the region known as Big Bend, with maximum winds of 225 kilometers per hour (140 miles), reported the National Hurricane Center (NHC, in English) from United States of America.
Hurricane Helene, the fifth hurricane of the Atlantic season, entered Florida at 11:10 local time (03:10 GMT on Friday) east of the mouth of the Aucilla River, about 10 miles (15 km) southwest of Perry, as a Category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson intensity scale, with a maximum of 5, the NHC said in a special statement.
