Beirut, Lebanon.- Witnesses reported the first Israeli attack in central Beirut in nearly a year of conflict, hours after Israel struck targets in various parts of Lebanon and killed dozens of people while Hezbollah suffered a series of blows to its command structure, including the death of its top leader, Hassan Nasrallah.
The bombing hit a multi-story residential building, according to an Associated Press journalist at the scene. Ambulances and crowds of people were seen in the video gathering under the building, where the attack appeared to be directed at an apartment.
In the past week, Israel has frequently attacked the southern suburbs of Beirut, where the political paramilitary group Hezbollah has a strong presence.
