The grief-stricken family of Jay Slater have gathered to give the teenager who died in Tenerife “the send-off he deserves”.
The 19-year-old bricklayer's funeral took place in Accrington, Lancashire, on Saturday. Well-wishers were asked to wear something blue in his memory.
His family asked people to donate to the charity LBT Global. – an overseas charity that provided assistance to the family – instead of bringing flowers.
The autopsy showed that Jay Slaterwho died on June 17, died of head injuries consistent with a fall from a height. He would have died instantly.
A “celebration of life service” will be held at Accrington Cemetery Chapel before the burial. The family previously set up a GoFundMe, which has raised £75,000, to give the teenager “the send-off he deserves”.
