A trio of Pixel 9 phones: two Pros and one vanilla

Google is ready to unify its Pixel smartphone lineup in the same way that Apple has been doing for several years. Pixel 9 will be a basic iPhone equivalent, with a 6.3-inch (non-LTPO) OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and slightly thicker bezels than its Pro counterparts.

The Pixel 9 will feature an aluminum frame along with a redesigned camera bump that no longer blends into the side frame like the Pixel 8 series. Being the more affordable device in the series, Google will offer eye-catching color options including Porcelain (white), Rose, Green, and Obsidian (black).

Pixel 9 Pro brings Pro features (i.e. triple cameras) to a smaller size in hopes of attracting users who were previously reluctant to upgrade to the Pro. It also gets a 6.3-inch OLED (LTPO this time) with sleeker bezels than the standard Pixel 9, as well as a shiny new frame that can be had in stainless steel or titanium. Pixel 9 ProXL will become the true successor of last year Pixel 8 Pro with a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display. The Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL are expected to come in Porcelain, Rose, Hazel (green), and Obsidian colors.

Cameras are always a central feature of Pixel devices, and this year the Pro cameras receiving A 50-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.31-inch Samsung GNK sensor and optical image stabilization, a 48-megapixel 5x telephoto camera with a 1/2.51-inch Sony IMX858 sensor, and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera. The Pixel 9 is said to feature the same 50-megapixel main camera and 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Rumor has it that Google will finally implement 8K video recording this time around.

The Pro models will also get upgraded 50-megapixel front cameras (Samsung 3J1), while the non-Pro models will stick with the 10.5-megapixel sensor from last year's Pixel 8 series.

All four new Pixels are expected to be powered by Google's 4nm Tensor G4 chipset, which should feature an octa-core configuration – 1x Cortex-X4 @ 3.1GHz, 3x Cortex-A720 @ 2.6GHz, and 4x Cortex-A520 @ 1.95GHz. Early benchmarks showed that this would be one of the minor changes in the short history of Tensor chipsets, although we waiting improved energy efficiency and heat management.

We're expecting a significant redesign with a taller, thinner body, which is rumored to measure 155.2 x 77.1 x 10.5mm when folded and 155.2 x 150.2 x 5.1mm when unfolded. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is also expected to be fully open flat unlike its predecessor. New AI features – why not?

It wouldn’t be a Google keynote without some new AI features built in. The new Pixels are expected to come with Pixel Screenshots, which uses Gemini to help you extract information from your screenshots and initiate searches directly. We’re also expecting new Gemini interactions with the ability to ask for help from any screen on your device.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Cases and Official Promo Videos Leak

Add Me is one of the most interesting features coming to the Pixel Camera app, which will allow you to add people to photos where they weren't originally in them. Google is also rumored to be updating Magic Editor with the ability to replace photo backgrounds with text suggestions.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 with wing tips

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 should retain the same stem-less design as their predecessors, but will bring back the wingtips for a better fit. They are expected to be available in Charcoal, Porcelain, Aloe, and Hot Pink, and will feature a slightly larger body that could hide a larger 650mAh battery.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are set to launch on September 26, priced at $229/€249/£219. You can also expect to see them in pre-order bundles alongside new Pixel phones.

Pixel Watch 3 in two sizes

For the first time in its lineup, the Pixel Watch 3 is expected to come in more than one size, namely a 45mm diameter version as well as a 41mm version. Both will look nearly identical to the Pixel Watch 2 with circular AMOLED displays, but will offer larger panels thanks to new thinner bezels. Both new watch models will also offer 2,000 nits of peak brightness and a 60Hz refresh rate, a welcome improvement over the Pixel Watch 2's 30Hz panel.
