That CDU-Chairman Friedrich Merz has spoken in favor of tightening juvenile criminal laws. The Union chancellor candidate announced in “Bild am Sonntag” that he wants to limit the application of juvenile criminal law. “I don't understand at all that we are talking about the right to vote at the age of 16, but criminal responsibility for the younger generation is between the ages of 18 and 21. And between the ages of 18 and 21 they are almost always sentenced under juvenile criminal law and not adult criminal law. I think we have to change that.”
Merz called for a “clear stop signal” for criminals
Merz also announced that the judiciary would be strengthened in the event of an election victory: “A clear stop signal” is needed for criminals. Law enforcement must be carried out immediately. “It doesn't need to take years, the procedures need to be simplified. The courts must be equipped.” That's why Merz wants to revive the federal-state alliance: “We once had a treaty for the rule of law in Germany. Abolish the coalition. Something like that has to happen again.”
