Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 close at record highs

We committed to a fan-led review in our manifesto in 2019. Since 2019, Tracey Crouch did that fan-led review. It was excellent. And since I’ve been in office, which is now just over a year, so since last year, we’ve published a white paper, we’ve consulted on that white paper, we’ve responded to that white paper, and we’ve drafted a bill.

And so we’re making extremely good progress in a very short period of time. We understand how much football matters to communities. The reason we’re doing this is because we’ve seen– over the course of the life of the Premier League, we’ve seen 64 administrations.

We’ve seen the devastation of Bury, Reading, Southend. Recently, we’ve heard of financial difficulties in Rochdale. And these are destroying communities. So we want to, of course, protect the Premier League. It’s really important. But we need to bring some financial stability to football as a whole.
