“It's an unwise policy, and I think the best hope is that it will ultimately remain just rhetoric and no reality.”
A Harvard economist who served in Barack Obama's White House administration is warning American voters that Kamala Harris' ideas are not based in “reality.”
The comment came as Harris announced her price-control agenda on Friday, saying it would solve the inflation that was actually caused by the trillion-dollar spending packages pushed by Joe Biden, and she actually provided the deciding votes for passage. That inflation is costing American consumers 20% more now for the same lifestyle they had when Biden took office.
“It’s unwise policy, and I think the best hope is that it ends up being all rhetoric and no reality,” Jason Furman told the New York Times about the time Harris announced her plan, a common ploy used by repressive countries to make their economies look better than they actually are.
“There are no advantages here, but there are disadvantages.”
Harris’s “price-fixing” scheme, she said, would prevent “big corporations” from taking advantage of consumers. But the Biden-Harris team has imposed trillions of dollars in spending on Americans, thanks to Harris’s decisive votes in the Senate, that the country doesn’t have.
Report Fox News reported that Harris plans to give the Federal Trade Commission and states the authority to impose fines for excessive pricing.
However, one commentator suggested that Americans will have to decide immediately whether they want prices to be determined by the open market or some bureaucrat from the Washington Deep State.
Furman was chairman of the National Economic Council under Obama and said plans like Harris's were risky.
Washington Post columnist Katharine Rampell also criticized Harris' plans.
“It's hard to overstate how bad this policy is. It's essentially a sweeping set of government price controls across all industries, not just food. Supply and demand will no longer determine prices or profits. Bureaucrats in faraway Washington will do that. The FTC will be able to, say, tell Kroger in Ohio what price it can charge for milk.”
WND reported Over the weekend, J.D. Vance, President Donald Trump's Republican pick to run for vice president this year, warned that giving Harris control over inflation policy is “like giving Jeffrey Epstein control over anti-human trafficking policy.”

He said: “The American people simply do not buy the idea that Kamala Harris, who has been vice president for three and a half years, is somehow going to fix the inflation crisis tomorrow, which she has not done for the last 1,300 days. Giving Kamala Harris control over inflation policy, Shannon, is like giving Jeffrey Epstein control over human trafficking policy.”
