The OnePlus Nord4 brought back the metal back design that the smartphone world has been missing for years. It certainly makes it stand out in a sea of glass and plastic backed devices, but it also turns out to make it stand out in another way – its very poor repairability.
This is the conclusion we can draw after watching the teardown video below, which highlights just how difficult it is to repair the Nord 4. The metal back makes it very difficult to get to the phone. Even going through the glass at the top results in damage to the case.
Removing the metal is the hardest part of any repair. After that, everything becomes easier. In the end, the Nord 4 gets a 4 out of 10 for repairability, with 10 being the most repairable and 0 being the least.
OnePlus Nord4
The screen is the hardest to replace, scoring 0.5/2, which is identical to the score for the interior design and organization. Parts availability, ease of battery replacement, and ease of replacing other miscellaneous parts each score 1/2, giving us a 4 out of a possible 10.
