Sony's PlayStation network was down for hours on Tuesday, frustrating gamers around the world who complained that they couldn't log in to their accounts.
PSN said on its website that “some services are experiencing issues,” and that players “may experience difficulty” logging in, creating an account, launching games, or getting video content.
“We are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible,” he said. Sony did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Data from Downdetector, a power outage tracker, shows that reports first spiked Monday evening and continued into Tuesday morning with thousands of reports submitted in the hours after the problem first emerged.
It lasted about eight hours, affecting almost all services that require a PSN login.
A technical error with the Official News feature on PS5 consoles has been resolved. There are no changes to the way game news is displayed on PS5.
It also comes shortly after a recent update caused large ads to be displayed on players' home screens — an error that the official PlayStation X account said was the result of an existing bug. fixed on Monday.
The outages were largely resolved by morning in the U.S. and Canada, and the PSN website said Tuesday morning that, “All services are up and running.”
