Like the current model, the new version will not be equipped with diesel engines.
The all-new Nissan Patrol sent a loud and clear message during its first appearance in Abu Dhabi this week. If it could talk, it would say: “I’m coming for you, Toyota Land Cruiser 300.”
The first all-new Nissan Patrol in 14 years is a significant step up from the current model, with attractive looks, plenty of technology and a serious powertrain.

In this week's issue Civilian driving's pit stop Podcast, Charl Bosch explains why he was so impressed with the new model when he attended its world premiere in the UAE on Tuesday. But he also warns that it will be some time before the new Patrol is introduced to the South African market, if it gets the go-ahead.
Left-hand drive markets Countries like the Middle East and the US will be prioritised when production begins. Right-hand drive markets like Australia and South Africa are not expected to receive stock of the SUV until 2026.
While the new Nissan Patrol has undergone many changes, one of the biggest is the change to the powertrain. The current model's 5.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol V8 has been replaced by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6. It produces 317kW of power and 700Nm of torque, up 19kW/140Nm.
The seven-speed automatic transmission has been replaced by a nine-speed unit, which is controlled by a button instead of a lever.

No Diesel Fuel for Nissan Patrol
Nissan claims the new Patrol will return less than 11 litres of petrol per 100km, a significant improvement over the 5.6-litre version. Civilian driving managed to achieve only 18.8 l/100 km in which most of it was on the open road!
When the new Patrol finally arrives in South Africa, it will renew its long-standing rivalry with the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, even though the latter will be five years older by then. But what will work against the Nissan again is the lack of a diesel engine.
Toyota Land Cruiser 300 It is available with a 3.3-litre V6 turbodiesel engine producing 225 kW/700 Nm and a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine producing 305 kW/650 Nm.
