After 65 presidents, Claudia Sheinbaum became Mexico's first president. A historical fact, in a country where every day 10 women are murdered and six others disappear. Sheinbaum claims her position is gender-focused, but expectations are high: it remains to be seen how Andrés Manuel López Obrador's heir apparent (Morena) applies a gender perspective; whose government, last year, allocated almost 90% of the gender policy budget to social programs that have nothing to do with eradicating gender violence, such as pension funds for the elderly or scholarships for students.
