The #25 Ford Mustang currently vying for this year's World Supercars title, will go up for auction and could prove a relatively cheap buy if it manages to win the title or the Bathurst 1000 in just a month's time.
Walkinshaw Andretti United is selling chassis WR028 to make room at its Clayton facility before Mustang driver Chaz Mostert gets a new car next year.
Hosting from LloydsThe auction is set to close on Sunday, September 15 at 7pm (AEST) – just hours after the end of this year's Sandown 500 endurance race.

That means whoever buys Mostert's Mustang will buy the car before the end of the season, as the year ends with the Bathurst 1000, Gold Coast 500 and Adelaide 500.
Walkinshaw has done it before: in September that year, he sold Mostert's 2021 Holden Commodore race car for $610,000 and won the Bathurst 1000 the following month.
The Mustang WR028 chassis debuted at the start of the Gen3 Supercars era in 2023, and while it failed to produce a single win last year (making it Mostert's first year without a win or pole position), the car and its driver have shown excellent form this year.
With three wins this year, including back-to-back victories in Sydney, Mostert is 81 points behind championship leader Will Brown with four rounds remaining in the season to reach the maximum 1200 points.
While the sale is likely to be completed before Monday, the car won't be handed over to its new owner until next year, where it will be dressed in the livery it will (hopefully) finish the Bathurst 1000 in.
For the first time, Walkinshaw will also include for sale the Mustang's race-modified 5.4-liter Coyote V8 engine, rather than forcing the future owner to source the powerplant themselves.
At the time of writing (15:00, September 12), bids have reached $210,000.
