The greatest Olympic medalist in Brazil's history, Rebeca Andrade, won gold on the uneven bars at the Brazilian Artistic Gymnastics Championships, this Sunday (22), in João Pessoa.
It was the first competition for the athletes after participating in the Paris Olympics.
The gymnast achieved a score of 14.500 this Sunday. In her classification, Saturday (21), she had already recorded a safe performance and achieved 14.300, 1.500 ahead of second place.
“It is an honour to be a reference for the children”, the gymnast told SporTV of the crowd at the João Pessoa gym cheering her performance.
In Paraíba, Rebeca Andrade also competed in the vault, where she reached 14.600, on Saturday, but because she chose not to do the second vault, she did not advance to the final.
Rebeca said that making just one jump would help her club Flamengo score a goal in the competition.
“It was good, I took care of myself and had a calmer series,” he said.
