Scout is indeed returning.

Volkswagen Group's new EV brand Scout Motors released a teaser image on Tuesday and announced that its electric concepts will… revealed October 24. The scout said he would show and Electric SUV and Truck concept.

Both the electric truck and SUV are being developed by a new US company called Scout Motors. The new company is subsidiary of Volkswagen GroupFormer VW USA CEO Scott Keough is now CEO of Scout Motors.

Electric vehicle production is scheduled for will start in 2026 at a new plant near Columbia, South Carolina. The plant is worth about $2 billion, and other VW vehicles could come out of the plant. Magna International is working with Scout to develop vehiclesincluding a new body-on-frame platform.

Both the truck and the SUV were there teased several times. Both look like rugged, brick-built SUVs with traditional Scout proportions. The silhouettes nod to old Scouts, but with seemingly modern lighting touches. The latest teaser, which came with confirmation of the reveal date, shows what appears to be a compass mounted on the ceiling.

Scout said the first vehicle will be an SUV that will be an “all-terrain vehicle” or “off-road vehicle,” with a larger electric truck to follow soon after.

The SUV will be aimed at the base price in the range of $40,000 while the pickup truck is said to cost a little further north.

VW invests $5 billion in Rivian access to its electric architecture for use across all of its brands. It's unclear whether development of the Scout SUV and truck has progressed too far to incorporate Rivian's zonal electric architecture.
