Senator Cynthia Lopez Castro. (SPECIAL)
This Tuesday, Senator Cynthia López Castro announced her resignation from the PRI. A few days ago he did not vote for anti-protection reform.
“I thank the PRI because there is social mobility in the PRI and there is space for people who come from effort and not from privilege, as Colosio said.”
López Castro stated that now he has “differences and there is no turning back”; He criticized that there should be no disobedience in the party and its leadership.
“I am here to defend my prestige, to defend the two million people who trust me…”
He stated that he had not had conversations with other parliamentary groups, “I have not spoken with PAN, the Green Party, the Citizens' Movement, or Morena.”
He supported the vote against Judiciary reform and stated that he would remain independent “for now”, so he could join another chamber in the following days.
López Castro clarified that he would vote for everything that benefits the Mexican people, and avoided answering whether his vote would support the opposition or Morena and its allies.
