Mexico City.- As part of her 100 commitments, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that she would join consultations on lifting the mandate in 2027.
“In time, we will push for reforms that strengthen participatory democracy, repeal of mandates, make people's decisions through consultation, and reduce the cost of elections for the people. In 2027, I will propose repealing the mandate. as stipulated by the Constitution,” he said.
Likewise, he announced that he would submit a constitutional reform initiative to restore the democratic principle of non-reelection. “So starting in 2030 there will be no elected positions that can be re-elected,” he said.
Likewise, he reported that they would push for a ban on the succession of immediate family members in popularly elected positions such as City President, representatives and senators.
