Peace Lilies are known for their beautiful white blooms, but during the summer they turn brown and wither.
While some people may have difficulty obtaining peace lily houseplant to get your flowers blooming again someday, one gardening enthusiast has shared his top tips to help you achieve this autumn.
“Give plant as much natural indirect light as possible is one of the main things, plant “I need to send flowers.”
Gardening Guru, Owner Sheffield Made Plants YouTube Channelexplained that peace lily indoor plants at least six hours of daylight are required.
Residents of the Northern Hemisphere are advised to place their peace lily on the window facing east.
Enough daylight means the plant is able to “photosynthesize efficiently and store energy for flowering.”
He added that proper watering of the spathiphyllum will also affect its ability to re-bloom.
This may mean that you will have to water your peace lily once a week, but the most important thing is to make sure the soil is dry before you water the plant.
Under- or over-watering your spathiphyllum will cause the plant to become stressed and unable to bloom again.
During the growth period, for example in autumn, spathiphyllums like to be fed with liquid fertilizers.
The expert explained: “I feed my spathiphyllum with liquid fertilizer at least once a month during the growing season.
“This helps keep the foliage green and provides it with the nutrients it needs to bloom.”
One particularly important nutrient is potassium, and this is where its top tip comes into play.
One of the kitchen scraps the expert recommends is banana, which he chops into small pieces and adds to the plant's soil.
“It gives the plant a little boost of potassium,” he said. If the plant gets enough light and is properly watered and fertilized, it should bloom again.
He added: “If you want your plant to flower as it would in the wild, it is important not to let the temperature in your home drop below 15°C.”
If you follow all the best advice from amateur gardeners, including using kitchen scraps from bananas, the peace lily should “bloom again.”
