Strawberries & Creem (S&C) have announced they will be taking over the Red Bull stage at this year's Notting Hill Carnival.
On Monday (August 26), the 5,000-capacity Red Bull stage at Emsley Horniman's Pleasance Park will feature DJs including BBC Radio 1's Kenny Allstar, DJs Larney and Rachel Anson, and Native Soundsystem, who will bring their African diaspora influences.
According to a press release, eight or more world-famous special guests will perform surprise performances on the carnival's largest permanent stage.
Strawberries & Creem's stage takeover also kicks off the festival's 10th anniversary celebrations and marks their official move to London. Speaking about the collaboration in a press release, Chris Jammer, head of partnerships at S&C, said: “Notting Hill Carnival has always been a musical and cultural institution for us, so we're thrilled to be bringing S&C to the party properly for the first time.
“Taking over this iconic stage means a lot to us – we grew up going to Carnival and experiencing some of the great moments that happened here. We have an unforgettable day of music planned, with some incredible artists who will be making it a real one. It's great to be working with our friends at Carnival to celebrate some of our favourite artists and bring in new talent too.”
Their lineup reinforces their desire to both “Celebrate Heritage” and “Champion the Future” – creating a musical melting pot where new talent rises to the top and established artists are celebrated. The founders are on a mission to create culturally significant musical performances that are unparalleled, mixing global stars and era-defining pioneers with the brightest young stars.
Last year, Notting Hill Carnival was attended by Shaggy will perform an epic set of his classic hits such as “Mr. Boombastic” and “It Wasn't Me”.
