A man identified as André Henrique Gama, 28 years old, died after losing control of the truck he was driving and colliding with an embankment on the AM-010 highway, near the municipality of Rio Preto da Eva, on Wednesday (9). The driver was initially rescued alive, but his death was confirmed by family members on Thursday morning (10).
According to information from the family, André was driving near the curve called “rala cara”, at kilometer 131 of the highway, when he lost control of his vehicle and hit an embankment, causing the cabin to be completely destroyed.
The rescue team immediately arrived at the scene of the accident and took André to Rio Preto da Eva Hospital. Unfortunately, after several hours of treatment, he died from his injuries.
André's wife reported that the body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in Manaus in the early hours of the morning and, after being released, taken to Itacoatiara, the city where the driver lived.
The Amazonas Civil Police (PC-AM) has started an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
