In a ruling to which Europa Press has had access, judge Juan Carlos Peinado answers to the community body that the events he is investigating “include processes of awarding various contracts, by Red.es, among others to the UTE, composed of the entities Innova Next – a Barrabés Group company –, SLU Business School and The Valley.” And it specifies that it is investigating alleged crimes of influence peddling and corruption in the business community.

However, the instructor provides a copy of the necessary documents to the EPPO, although he does not comment on the jurisdiction of the investigation in relation to contracts with European funds, as it is the European Public Prosecutor's Office itself that must determine this.

As part of its verification procedures, the EPPO requests from Red.es the complete files of the three contracts in question, which concern training services for employment in the digital economy – two of which are intended for young people and one for the unemployed. In the decree in which it makes such a request, the European Public Prosecutor's Office specifies that it takes this decision after having become aware of the reported facts relating to the said files through “press publications”. In addition, she announces that, “as soon as the previous projects have been identified”, she must inform the Administrative Unit of the European Social Fund (UAFSE) to send her information on whether said contracts “have been financed with European funds and, if applicable, if they are certified.”

The magistrate opened proceedings on April 16 for abuse of influence and corruption in the business community, after receiving a complaint through distribution from Clean Hands – which It consisted of a simple list of headlines– about various professional jobs performed by Sánchez's wife.
