The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced on Wednesday in the Congress of Deputies that he will be promoted four new programs endowed with 2.3 billion euros to accelerate the energy transition in agriculture, infrastructure and neighbourhoods in cities and municipalities across Spain.
In his appearance before the plenary session of Congress to present his Action Plan for Democracy and in his report on the latest European Council meetings, Sánchez has defended that Europe cannot be “a continent of savers and consumers”. And he has warned that “every year, 300,000 million euros of European savings go abroad to promote the economic and business growth of other countries, especially the United States”, according to Servimedia.
Given these figures, he has defended use European funds to “modernise traditional industries” and building “a new generation of green” and “future-oriented” factories and services. And although he has stated that “thousands of jobs” are already being created in Spain in this area, he believes that this is not enough.
“It is clear that we are not satisfied, that we want more. For this reason, I am announcing that the government will launch four new programs in the coming days, endowed with more than 2.3 billion euros, to accelerate the energy transition in areas such as green hydrogen, the renewable energy value chain, the promotion of new energy communities and a new programme to support renewable energy sources in agriculture, infrastructure and the neighbourhoods and cities of our municipalities,” he said.
