The judge rejects Pedro Sánchez's written statement and upholds his testimony in Moncloa

The judge who replaces Juan Carlos Peinado on Friday, who For three months he investigates Begoña Gómezhas rejected the prime minister's request to testify in writing on Tuesday. The magistrate confirms that his testimony will take place in person next Tuesday and that he will go to Moncloa in person to record a statement about his wife's affairs. The decision comes from Court 41 of Peinado and is signed by Carlos Valle, magistrate of Court 14 of the capital.

The instructor of the case decided that he would call Sánchez as a witness after Begoña Gómez abused her right not to testify last Friday, July 19. Peinado wrongly quoted some articles of the Criminal Procedure Act and explained that due to his status as a high-ranking official, the testimony could be given at his workplace, but that he would not be allowed to testify in writing, because he understood that the facts had nothing to do with his position.

Now your court rejects it Sánchez's request to be able to answer your questions in writing. He confirms that, in his opinion, his questions will not have anything to do with his position as President of the Central Executive, but urges him to make all the necessary disclosures and only then will he change the form of the appearance if they relate to his work.

“If the witness believes that he can effectively cooperate with the Judiciary, as stated in his letter, by sharing with the Investigator relevant facts of which he has become aware due to his function, he must emphasize this in said statement to make it clear. “that a new one is being made about these events”, invites Judge del Valle as “incidental judge.”

The judge decided to summon Sánchez to testify as a witness without clearly explaining the reasons, but denied the possible existence of a “chain influence” on the part of his wife, implying that Gómez could have used her husband's position and the Moncloa Palace to promote their businesses.

In the past hours, Begoña Gómez's defense has asked questions to the Provincial Court that it does not take several months to process your objection and to put the case in order as soon as possible under the leadership of Judge Peinado. Another defendant in the case, Juan Carlos Barrabés, has also appealed his condition has gone from witness to investigation after appearance via video conference.
