Is Kevon Looney next Stephen Curry? Maybe not, but Golden State Warriors big man is I plan to take more three-point attempts in the 2024-25 season.
“I’ve been working hard,” Looney said, via scoopb.com. “I’m coming into this season a little bit different, expanding my game and trying to grow a little bit. I’m going to shoot the ball a lot more. That’s what I’ve been doing for years, but now it’s time for me to shoot threes, shoot more mid-range. Steve (Kerr) wanted me to improve in that area, so I mean, I’ve been shooting a lot of shots and I feel good about my game, so there’s going to be a lot of surprises next year.”
Golden State believes in Looney. Warriors Decide to Guarantee Looney's Contract for the 2024-25 campaign early in the offseason. Looney could potentially play an even bigger role in the upcoming campaign.
The Warriors endure disappointing 2023-24 seasonGolden State will need players like Looney to take steps forward if they want to seriously compete. Any team with Stephen Curry on the roster can make some noise, but even Curry needs help.

The 28-year-old has been with the Warriors since the 2015-16 season. He has had a positive impact on the team over the years, but Looney is not considered a star. However, that does not mean his presence is ignored. The Warriors understand how important Looney is to their team.

Looney has averaged 0.1 three-pointers per game in his career, so what can Warriors fans expect from Looney given his recent comments on three-point shooting?
Well, Looney probably won't see a huge increase in his attempts from beyond the arc. He'll likely still score mostly in the box. However, the Warriors' offense does a great job of getting players open, so maybe Looney will break his career high in three-point attempts.
Golden State will be able to stretch the floor if Looney can add a reliable three-point shot to his game. That will be an interesting element of the Warriors' upcoming season.
