Georgia, United States.– Former US president and Republican candidate for the White House, Donald Trump, on Wednesday boasted of having almost daily conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with whom he said he had a very good relationship.
Trump has previously presented himself as Israel's “protector” and said Netanyahu's government must “put an end to the problem” in its war against Hamas.
“My aunt called me yesterday, she called me the day before yesterday,” said the Republican candidate, using Netanyahu's nickname. “We have a very good relationship,” Trump said at a rally in the state of Georgia.
“We will work with them closely.”
Trump had been referring to his telephone conversation with Netanyahu on Saturday, when he stated that the Israeli prime minister wanted to know “his opinion on things.” The most recent public conversation between US President Joe Biden and Netanyahu occurred on October 17, when the US leader congratulated him on toppling Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, according to the White House. During his visit to the US Congress in late July, Netanyahu honored Trump and thanked him for all he had done for Israel.
