Jessica Pegula shared her thoughts after losing the US Open final. Speaking at a press conference, she said: “Yeah, it was a super tough match today. Obviously I would have liked to be in the third set now, but relatively speaking, I'm glad I was able to at least get a chance to win the set, considering I was losing the first and second sets.”
“So she was able to find good tennis. She just couldn't maintain it. Yeah, congratulations to her. I think she played great tennis in some important moments.”
Asked if she had had a chance to reflect on her achievement, she said: “Probably not, because I'm just annoyed that I lost right now. Everyone says, 'Congratulations, what a great tournament.' I say, 'Oh, well, whatever.' (Laughter.)
“I think maybe once I relax a little bit, I'm sure I'll be a little bit more grateful and see it all. At some point. I should probably do that at some point.
“Yeah, it's been a crazy couple of days, so hopefully I'll have time after this to just relax and, you know, look back at what I've been able to accomplish in the last month.”
