Of all the new trends in music in 2024, the one that undoubtedly sucks the most is the artists cancellation or postponement their tours at the last minute. R&B superstar Usher just became the latest artist to reschedule a tour less than a day in advance, telling fans eagerly awaiting his Past Present Future Atlanta announced that the concert in its hometown had been postponed.
“Over my 30-year career, 100% of my blood, sweat, and tears have gone into performing at my best and creating an unforgettable experience for my fans,” he wrote on social media. “I intend to do the same on this tour, so I’m going to have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and recover. You’ll still get a little bit of the past, a little bit of the present, and a unique glimpse into the future on the rescheduled date, but you’ll also get 100% of me.”
“The last thing I want to do is disappoint you, the fans, who have been so excited to get this tour started,” the statement read. “However, I wouldn’t be the artist I am if I couldn’t physically give it my all. My team will be sharing news of the rescheduled date soon. I can’t wait to celebrate this legacy with you.”
Usher has two more shows scheduled this week in Atlanta at State Farm Arena, on Friday, August 16, and Saturday, August 17, but it's unclear if those shows will be postponed as well. The next stop on the schedule is Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., on August 20 and 21. Luckily, Usher has joined another trend: his concert film, Usher: Rendezvous in Parisis set to hit theaters September 12-15, and he won't have to be physically there.
