A man tried to set fire to homeless residents in Botafogo, a neighborhood in southern Rio de Janeiro.
Security cameras captured the suspect, identified by his first name Cristiano, shocking two victims with a bucket of flammable liquid. Vulnerable residents managed to escape seconds before Cristiano started the fire.
One resident's loyal companion, a dog named Anitta, suffered minor injuries. The case occurred last Saturday (12), around 20.00.
In the early hours of Sunday (13), around 02.00, Cristiano returned to the scene and again tried to burn one of the residents. But to no avail, he destroyed the victim's belongings. The case is listed as attempted murder and property damage.
