Waste and recycling businesses shut down operations in Torreón

Two junkyards and a business selling recycled materials were closed in a joint operation between the Municipal Inspection and Verification Directorate, the La Laguna Special Command and different police companies.

One of the junkyards is located on Juan Agustín de Espinoza street in the Fidel Velázquez neighborhood, which does not have any permits for its operation.

The “Piña” junkyard, located on Braulio Fernández Aguirre Street in the Elsa Hernández neighborhood of De las Fuentes, was also closed for lack of a business license, using public space and not having adequate facilities.

“We checked the validity of the permits, as well as the units and facilities, and found that both businesses had irregularities,” reported the director of the City’s Inspection and Verification, Raúl Rodríguez García.

He said, to ensure the legality and security in the sale and purchase of used car parts, the inspection operations were carried out at places called scrap yards, to verify that the businesses were operating according to regulations and that the products they were distributing had a legitimate origin.
