Wells Fargo to spend up to $1bn on ‘unanticipated’ severance

The London Stock Exchange faced an outage on Tuesday morning, hitting trading in hundreds of small cap stocks. It was the second such problem in less than two months.

Only stocks on the FTSE 100 and 250 indices, and global depositary receipts — a certificate representing shares in overseas companies — could be traded. “We are undertaking immediate analysis,” the exchange said.

The outage appeared similar to an issue the exchange faced in October, when trading in hundreds of small cap stocks was halted before the end of the day.

On Tuesday morning, trading was suspended in companies including online retailer Asos, drinks maker Fevertree and polling company YouGov.

Trading in the shares resumed in mid-morning, the LSE said.
